Closelymade.com grew out of the everyday conversations we had inside MakingSLO, our brick-and-mortar shop in downtown San Luis Obispo.

We opened the store to spotlight goods and gifts crafted right here in SLO County. From day one, every candle, cutting board, or art print on our shelves came with a handshake and a first-name introduction from the maker who created it.

The aha moment

As the shop flourished and grew, we often met talented artisans who said, “I’m not ready for a full retail partnership, but I still need a place to show my work.”

That gap planted the seed for Closelymade.com, a digital showcase built to give every local maker a widely visible spotlight, without requiring retail quantities or the overhead of a physical booth at a market.
